This unique lampshade made from naturally-dyed wool is very special. It is vibrant, playful and wonderfully eye-catching!
It is named after the Lisbon neighbourhood Mouraria, one of its oldest bairros, which was the Gueto dos Mouros (the Ghetto of the Moors) before they were thrown out of Lisbon (or converted to Catholicism) for good in the 15th Century.
In subsequent centuries it went on to become the area where many immigrants settled - many from Portuguese-speaking countries in Africa - which created a wonderfully colourful, culturally diverse area.
Plants and roots used to create the colours in this bespoke lamp include madder root, indigofera tinctoria, turmeric root, carob bean and bay tree leaves and bark.
The lamp measures 58cm x 18cm x 35cm.
Please bear in mind that each Looma lampshade is a one-off - a unique, hand crafted piece of art. Once this piece is sold then we will not create another to replace it- this is one of the reasons why each Looma lamp is so special.
Please note that Looma Lamps are lampshade only - light fixture and cable need to be purchased separately.
